Because of the physical timing and precision needed to coordinate all elements of Noises Off, actors should make every effort to be available for all scheduled rehearsals (conflicts will be addressed on an individual basis). Because of the complexity of the play, some allowance will be made for marching band members to participate.
Selected scenes will be available for you at the audition. Will be available in late August.
Most roles require a British accent. You are free to try an accent during auditions but are not obligated to do so.

      Character Breakdown

Dotty Otley: Character Actress, 50's and a bit of a character. Established actress has put up her own money to mount the tour of Nothing On, the play within the play. Plays Mrs. Clackett, the housekeeper in the play within the play. Cockney accent as Mrs. Clackett; middle-class accent as Dotty.

Lloyd Dallas: The director of Nothing On - 40's-50's. Having affairs with two women at once, both of them in Nothing On. Pretends to be upper class, but is not. Aging, but still tremendously appealing in a Sean Connery kind of way. Standard British accent. Tries to be patient, but the actors drive him nuts.

Gary LeJeune: Young supporting actor - 30's - pleasant looking but not handsome and never able to complete a thought. Dotty’s love interest. Plays Roger Tramplemain, a high-powered real-estate agent in Nothing On. As Roger he is a bit of a pretender, confident about real estate, insecure and a bit awkward with women. Acts as if he owns the Brent’s home to impress Vicki.

Brooke Ashton: Typical ingénue - 20's. All body, no brain, in short a bit of an airhead. Self-absorbed and has trouble focusing on and getting what people are saying. Pretty face - must be well put-together as she prances around in undergarments for more than half of the show. Works for Inland Revenue (the British equivalent of the IRS). May look and dress a bit flashy and trashy. Plays Vicki in play within play the sexual object for Roger Tramplemain.

Poppy Norton-Taylor: Assistant Stage Manager of Nothing On. Pleasant looking, dresses conservatively, a bit nervous and self-effacing, eager to please. Had and affair with and is pregnant by Lloyd Dallas. A bit soft-spoken.

Frederick Bellowes: Leading man - late 30's- mid-forties 40's. Very handsome in a conventional and old-fashioned way. Plays Philip Brent, the owner of the Posset Mill, in Nothing On. Standard British Accent as Frederick, more upper class as Philip. Good build. Should look like he was made to wear fine clothes.

Belinda Blair: Leading Lady, attractive - 30's. Tries to help people sort things out and understand each other. Plays Flavia, Philip’s wife, in Nothing On. Should also wear good clothes comfortably. Standard British Accent as Flavia.

Tim Allgood: The Company Stage Manager of Nothing On - 30's. Handles technical problems on stage and understudies several roles. Tries to be a good egg and keep everything running smoothly. Young character man, medium build.

Selsdon: Older character man – 50’s-70’s A reformed alcoholic (or is he?) who gives everyone a turn. Hard of hearing (or is he?) but always turns up in the nick of time. Plays the burglar in Nothing On. Has a middle class British accent as Selsdon, and a Cockney accent as the burglar. Plays Vicki’s father in Nothing On.
