Presented through special arrangement with Samuel French, New York

Neil Simon, America’s best known multi-award winning playwright, excels in presenting the frustrations and vagaries of life with delicious humor. His comic concoction RUMORS is based on a dinner party where four snazzily-dressed couples gather at the home of Charlie and Myra Brock to celebrate the tenth wedding anniversary of their hosts. ----
But Charlie is lying upstairs with a bullet hole in his ear lobe, and
Myra is nowhere to be seen.
We are pitched headlong into high-voltage hilarity as the friends try frantically to protect their host (who is deputy mayor of
New York), and themselves, by hiding the evening’s events from the outside world.  -----
As Clive Barnes of the
New York Post wrote: “Broadway has something to cheer about again. This maze of mendacity is light, frothy and fun!” -----
Currently negotiating the maze in rehearsal are David Taub, Sara Tazari, Amanda Shechtman, Spencer Levy, Alexis Shaw, Adam Rubin, Lizzie Greenwald, Tom Roccotagliata, Devin Rossinsky & Danny Buslik.  Emily Zahn is the stage manager with Melanie Beatus as her assistant. The play is directed by Brad Frey and the set is designed by Mardi Braun and Ron Weaver.  -----

This production will be performed in the intimate setting of the Roslyn High School Commons. Due to the size of the theater, seating will be limited, so reserve your tickets early. ----Rumors

PSST…… Did you hear the one about Neil Simon’s play “Rumors” coming to Roslyn?

One of Neil Simon’s most popular comedies, Rumors takes place in the posh suburban residence of New York’s deputy mayor, Charley Brock who, at the beginning of the show, is lying off-stage with a bullet hole in his earlobe.  This puts a slight crimp in the plans for a tenth anniversary party for himself and his equally absent wife, Myra.  As the guests arrive, each couple tries to keep each new arrival from finding out about Charley’s possible suicide attempt.  The confusion is not helped by the plethora of rumors about Charley, Myra and most of the guests.

It opened on Broadway in 1988 to rave reviews and ran for 535 performances. Time Magazine called it, "An old-fashioned door slamming, crockery-smashing farce."

Featured in RCP’s production are Spencer Levy as Lenny, a short-tempered accountant with a whiplash injury; Amanda Shechtman as Claire, Lenny’s acid-tongued wife; Sara Tazari as Chris, a tense publishing lawyer who really needs a cigarette; David Taub as Chris’s husband Ken, Charley’s lawyer who is determined to protect him at all costs.

Adam Rubin plays Ernie, a laid-back psychologist, with Alexis Shaw as his appropriately named wife, Cookie; Tom Roccotagliata as pompous state senatorial candidate Glenn and Lizzie Greenwald as his wife Cassie, who might be charitably described as high-maintenance.  Police officers Welch (Devin Rossinsky) and Pudney (Danny Buslik) round out the cast.

“Rumors” is produced by Mardi Braun and staged by RCP veteran Brad Frey, director of the previous 15 RCP productions.  The set design and construction is by Ron Weaver and the costumes are by Ashley Gur and Max Aboody. The stage manager is Emily Zahn and the business manager is Erika Kolb.

Rumors will be performed on Thursday, November 16th at 3:30 PM; and Friday and Saturday, November 17th and 18th at 7:30 pm.  All performances will take place in the Roslyn High School Commons due to the auditorium renovation. Seating will be limited to fewer than 75 per show so reserve your tickets early. To reserve tickets, call the RCP Box Office at 625-6362 or you can visit our web site at http://rcp.roslynschools.org for further show information.  All Reserved ticket prices are $10.  This play has some adult content and is not recommended for children.

 What is RCP?

The Royal Crown Players of Roslyn High School have been in existence since the beginning days of the school. The organization has always prided itself on the professionalism of its productions. It has showcased the finest talent in the Roslyn community and fostered an appreciation for the theatre. Past productions have ranged from Shakespeare to original musical presentations.

An inclusive family, RCP has members not only on stage, but backstage as well, with the creative energies of set construction, choreography, lighting, sound, properties, scenic design, costuming, and make-up. Our business staff publishes two playbills a year and specializes in graphic arts. Our box office staff creates and manages a computerized ticket system, while our computer staff maintains all of our computers.

RCP is a “real life” activity, from the nurturing of a script and score to the presentation of an opening night performance. The culmination of different students and talents with unselfish attitudes and the same creative aim, for your enjoyment, appreciation, and love for the theatre, we are the Royal Crown Players.
