This hip new musical
had a successful off-Broadway run
before coming to Broadway. The show
opened at the Richard Rodgers
Theatre in March of 2008. From the
producers of Rent and Avenue Q comes
In the Heights a modern musical that
portrays a close community on the
verge of change while incorporating
hip hop, salsa and Broadway ballads
to deliver its message.
- In the
Heights details three days
in the life of Washington Heights a
colorful, tight-knit community at
the top of the island of Manhattan.
Through the music the story develops
and the audience is able to feel the
hopes and dreams of three Latino
generations as they try to establish
an identity for themselves in a
neighborhood on the brink of
transition. When the community finds
themselves at a crossroad they must
stick together to try and achieve
their dreams no matter the cost.

The Royal Crown Players
of Roslyn High School have been in existence since 1941.
The organization has always prided itself on the
professionalism of its productions. It has showcased the
finest talent in the Roslyn community and fostered an
appreciation for the theatre. Past productions have
ranged from Shakespeare to original musical

opportunity to explore many aspects of the theatrical
performing arts within many different venues. The
production year consists
of a fall and spring production.
An inclusive family,
RCP has members not only
on stage, but backstage as well, with the creative
energies of set construction, choreography, lighting,
sound, properties, scenic design, costuming, and
make-up. Our students have an
to learn to stage manage and tackle many
many other technical endeavors.
Our business staff publishes two playbills a year and
specializes in graphic arts. Our box office staff
creates and manages a computerized ticket system, while
our computer staff maintains all of our computers.
To become a member of
the Royal Crown Players, only interest and a desire to
be around other students
in the theater is all that is needed . Everyone is
welcome to audition for any of
shows or be involved as a "techie". Overall,
the theater program fosters teamwork and discipline
while also having a great time.

life” activity, from the nurturing of a script and score
to the presentation of an opening night performance. The
culmination of different students and talents with
unselfish attitudes and the same creative aim, for your
enjoyment, appreciation, and love for the theatre, we
are the Royal Crown Players.

their spring musical "IN THE HEIGHTS" which will premiere on the
Roslyn stage March 26, 27 & 28. Auditions will begin in early

Best Score, Best Orchestrations, and the Best Musical of 2008, IN
THE HEIGHTS also won the Grammy for the Cast album and was
nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama. This groundbreaking musical
